Day 1: Anchorage to Seward
Passenger Extra 3011 train. The GP40-2 is leading this move from Seward at Portage. En route to Anchorage. Check the older paint scheme on the locomotive.
Coal at Divide 5 gp49 and a gp40 exit a tunnel. Radio traffic with crew change at Seward.
Radio traffic between Dispatch and train crews is very clear.
Day 2: Anchorage to Porter
Coal, Passenger and a freight train on the agenda.
Alaska 3015 leads with an F7B in the Passenger lashup . This move is to Seward. Meets the empty Coal Train at Anchorage.
The 3019 leads a stopped Freight Train. He is waiting on a Passenger train.
Day 3: Portage to Whittier
On the Whittier Shuttle Train. Hauls passengers, vehicles and 35 minutes to Whittier. This train hauls their autos, and Commercial traffic on flatcars. One can ride in their vehicle. Six trips a day.
Plenty of action around Whittier.
Rail Barges
The barge traffic has a Chapter. A huge tidal shift allows limited time to service a barge. Details of this operation are shown.
Budd RDC
A few scenes of the RDC. Maintenance of Way is next up. Interesting squawk box talk. A surprise interpolation!
There are some cabooses on the Alaska. Note the scenery here.
Alaska Volume 2
A unique railroad. Special operations are normal, everyday service. A sturdy fleet of EMD power. Spectacular scenery!
It’s an intriguing show. Alaska offers beautiful scenery. Some rare operations. Excellent details that should satisfy anyone with railroad interests.
