A single DVD-R. Subtitles with information. Narrated with an On/Off selection. No maps. Hidden chapter advance.
Original film appears to be clean. Soundtrack is music and live audio. The train sounds begin 27 minutes into the show. Don Grant with a good narrative.
Minnesota, Iowa, Wisconsin, Illlinois, along with the ore lines in Michigan.
Individual scenes jump around. Begins in 1971. Progress is a bit random.
First generation diesel locomotives are all over the place! Solid sets of Electromotive F units and early geeps.
Also, Alco power. Including some units still in Chicago Great Western paint.

These appear to be SD18r engines. Narrative calls them SD9. Either way, some cool Electromotive power.
Caboose speeds past at Boone, Iowa. Several different cabooses are seen. Although rare within the context of this program.

Classic Chicago and North Western Vol 4
Outstanding volume! Each of the previous Classic CNW shows are worthwhile, and different flavors.
The live sound puts this one to the head of the class. Roger Bee has nice cinematography. He filmed many scenes closer to the tracks. A traditional camera that gets the power and the first few cars.
Hence, many different trains. Not much in freight consists or the tail end of trains.
An excellent release that highlights vintage CNW locomotives. The included audio makes this a fine choice for Railfans and Model Railroaders.
