The final release of Fred Crissey films. Union Pacific and Rio Grande in the 1980s.

A single DVD-R. Chapter menu. Choice of narration with or without music. On screen subtitles with some locations. No maps.

Fred shot 8mm film. Original images that are clean overall. These are historical value. So, do not expect modern.viewing. He does setup trackside more often vs. 1970s era.

Narrative by Don Grant  is informative. Music levels are well balanced.

A runby is one of many different scenes

In 1985, Fred was on a UP 3985 Challenger led Excursion. Colorado to Laramie,  Wyoming. Multiple runbys at varied spots,  and onboard the train. It plays like a feature in the show. 6936 finish near the conclusion of the tour.

UP Pocatello, Idaho to Green River, Wyoming. The Oregon Short Line. Greyhound paint on the Northern class 8444. The UP Passenger service livery. Late 1980s. A Chapter of 8444 Steam Action.

Rio Grande – Tennessee Pass September 1985

A GP40 led train hauls a freight. Fred gives chase…

An SD40T is added as a lead helper

At Minturn, tunnel motor 5405 is added as a lead helper unit.

Tunnel motors are used as mid-train helpers

SD tunnel motors are mid-train and earn their keep on up to a 3% grade.

Eastbound at Tennessee Pass tunnel

Eastbound Ballast train exits Tennessee Pass tunnel. Elevation is over 10,000 feet.

Most of the trains are caboose equipped. A variety of roadnames and types.

This might be your best value, Fred Crissey, show of all. Considering that this offers a 3 in 1 package. UP mainlines, UP Steam Specials, and Rio Grande, as well.

UP 8444 in both paint schemes. Plus, it’s final trip before renumbering to 844.

There is a caboose on every freight train. Clear weather. Life is good!
