Cajon Pass
Monday and time to leave. Onto the Climax. Both Steamers cross Cajon Pass on parallel trackage.
The main concern of this footage, is a helicopter intruding on scenes. One can hear it (loudly), even if out of sight.
The Southern Pacific 4449 stops with a mechanical problem. It gets going again. However, the UP train is gone. The Daylight train is chased a little bit.
Steam to Los Angeles
Predominantly a Union Pacific 8444 show. The majority of time is spent on this locomotive. Journey from Cheyenne to Los Angeles is well documented. Southern Pacific enters at the LAUPT.
It was an excellent event at the LAUPT. The Climax as the 2 Steam Engines traverse Cajon Pass is memorable.
Steam locomotive fans and even families should find this an enjoyable program.
