An original Union Pacific and Rocky Mountain Fan Club 1953 steam excursion is recreated here. The main event UP 3985 gets customized as 3967 for the single day! There is more, of course.

3985 warms up at the Steam Shop

May 14, 1993. Begins with 3985 at the Cheyenne Steam Shop. Notice the added Elephant Ears. An articulated steam locomotive. The pilot is a separate attachment. Converted to Oil in 1990.

Action on Sherman Hill line

Hauls cars over Sheman Hill. Destination is Denver.

Tight trackage at Denver

Arrival at Denver. Check the added smoke deflector.

An original excursion to Laramie, was in 1953. UP Challenger 3967 powered that train.

Challenger

May 15, 1993. Renumbered as 3967. As the original trip, Rocky Mountain RR Club event. The Special departs and deviate slightly by using a newer (1953) track at Sherman Hill. .

Various Rocky Mountain members are interviewed. Offering insights into history and operational aspects.

Onboard interior car views. Several scenes of inside the passenger cars. Also, views looking out from a Dome car.

May 16, 1993. Challenger with a fantasy number as 3718 is in Denver. This denotes had it been oil converted, back in the day.

Pentrex really nailed this excursion. Never drags or becomes repetitive. An excellent example of how to document and present a Steam Excursion.

The crowd loves my singing. I sound like; Joe Cocker, Greg Allman, with a bluesy tone. Nobody was more shocked than me. A late bloomer.
