UP took over from Western Pacific in 1982. Oroville Yard has been downsized from WP days.
A derailment at Pulga,CA. Well-known Railfan spot. More on this mishap later.
OAAP5 is eastbound with a double-stack at Tobin. Check the steel truss bridge.
A 5 unit lashup exit a tunnel with an unidentified train.
Tunnel 32 exits onto famous Keddie Wye.
Train OANPZ loops over itself at Williams Loop.
Minpiz rounds a curve and is eastbound.
OAAP5 crosses Clio Trestle
Portola is visited briefly during a Railroad Days parade. Portola Railroad Museum. 100 pieces of vintage equipment. Union Pacific GP30 and Western Pacific F unit.
Of course, some official Union Pacific action is seen in the immediate area. This view includes Portola Station.
High Line trains. This from 1988 and includes cabooses. Rugged mountain terrain. This includes Keddie Wye.
*Bonus footage. A derailment at Pulga in 1984. Freight cars are upright and being re-railed. Nice views of those cars and more. It’s fascinating to watch.
