Union Pacific from Clinton, Iowa to Cheyenne and beyond. A fast moving tour. CNW power is ever present on their former lines. The merger was still fresh.

Green Frog Super Railroad 7 issued as a complete set.
Individual discs as separate volumes. These reviews are from the complete set.
Fullscreen 4×3 aspect ratio. Live environmental audio. Generally speaking, clean imagery. A horizontal distortion bar appears in varied sizes along the bottom of the screen. Sometimes the size and distractions are annoying. Mostly it is small.
Main Chapter Menu. A hidden Chapter advance. Narrated by Bob Carrera. On/off narration.
To the Trains… 👉

A CNW 8543 (8-40C) leads an empty Wisconsin Electric Coal Train across the Mississippi River at Clinton, Iowa. The Lincoln Highway often parallels the mainline to

West of Dewitt, Iowa. Just off the US 30, CNW 6922 hauls a hot American President Lines Double-stack move.

Westbound APL double stack awaits a meet at Missouri Valley, Iowa. This SD40-2 6934 has been repainted into traditional CNW colors with Operation Lifesaver logos.

Union Pacific 6301 on the point of a Westbound Piggyback Train going towards Fremont.

UP 5063 (SD50) in the leads a double- stack at Fremont. The lash-up of older EMD units trundles past slowly.

Grand Island with the BN flyover. Good action although reduced visibility on this day. The money shot contains a pair of CNW hauling coal. Meanwhile, a like minded BN Coal Train passes overhead.

The huge UP Bailey Yard is in North Platte, Nebraska. In 1995, one hundred locomotives can be found here. A drive-by provides a ground level look.

Train OGNP is behind 2531 (C30-7) . Ogden to North Platte Maifest.. Just stopped in favor of a high priority American President Lines stacker.

UP 9022 and CNW 7015 haul a Manifest Train on Archer Hill. Cheyenne, Wyoming. A preferred Railfan location with sweeping curves.

A BN powered move to Denver. A pretty rare catch on it’s overpass of Union Pacific mainline at Cheyenne, Wyoming.

Train PGEX (Portland General Electric) is returning to Oregon for coal and seen at Lost Springs, Wyoming. Population of three! America’s smallest incorporated town. Three Dash 8 diesels pull the empty Coal Train. UP 9499 and a pair of CNW on this move.
Union Pacific Super Railroad Volume 1
This program contains a line tour from Illinois – Iowa to Wyoming. Plenty of locations are included in this briskly moving show. One may believe it is a Chicago NorthWestern with Union Pacific run-throughs. However, the merger is fresh. Hence, CNW generally has the proper equipment to lead over their rails.
Cinematography is fine. Soundtrack is balanced. A solid narrative is simple and effective. A map would’ve been beneficial, but none included. A minus for the distortion bar.
All in all, here is a solid release by Green Frog. Recommended for both CNW and UP fans.
