Central Kentucky Rails

CKEN-DVD

Producer: Pentrex

Timeframe: 2015

Locations: Central KY.

Length: 2 hours

.
What we have here. A smorgasbord of the Central Kentucky railroad scene in 2015. Class ones are; CSX and Norfolk Southern. RJ Corman is the regional. Yes, they include the dinner train. Paducah & Louisville is another regional. A couple of operational train musuems, round out this program.

David Drui performs his high quality narration. The script is on the thin side. More about that aspect later.

This was an old tunnel.

Covington. C&O rails. The old signal bridge still serves. So, the first half of the show is complete with CSX.

Norfolk Southern departs southbound on former Southern rails from Cincinnati. The route goes to Danville.

The Rathole, is included for a look. This is covered, much better in the Pentrex title, The Rathole combo. Lack of narrative detail here, drags down the show. As well as the actual film. Again, captured better in the combo.
Matter of fact, although the overall historical aspects are fine. Noticeable, are a dearth of info on actual train operations throughout the entire program. Both for CSX and NS. Very lightweight.

Roger Corman dinner train shown.

The Kentucky and Tennessee, is a tourist line.

The Bluegrass Museum, is the first of two visited. A GP7 pulls tourists. That Illinois Central Gulf Paducah rebuild, appears stranded on a display track.

Central Kentucky Rails
Meets the advertised as far as content. CSX half was the best part of this show. Norfolk Southern was rather plain. RJ Corman was fine. Paducah and Louisville a little disappointing.

None of the Museum visits were memorable. Small time operations. Nothing personal.

Sum total. A mixed bag. Somewhat dependent on interests. In general terms. Not great, not bad. A plus up, for high quality visuals.

A musician for many years. Guitar is my main instrument. Enjoy bass playing .Rock and Blues styles. However, Lead Vocals have been a Huge surprise!
The crowd loves my singing. I sound like; Joe Cocker, Greg Allman, with a bluesy tone. Nobody was more shocked than me. A late bloomer.

I love to have some laughs. People think that I am hilarious, and I remain clueless as to why... :)

I hope that everyone enjoys the material.
