The 1522 Steamin to Centralia

Producer: Black 5 Video – Green Frog

Locations: St. Louis, Centralia, Sesser…

Timeframe: 1993

Length: 49 minutes

Source: George Redmond

Frisco 1522 is the star of this show. This Mountain type is a 4-8-2 wheel arrangement. June, 1993 saw the 1522 operate for two days in Excursion Service. It ran on Norfolk Southern St. Louis sub. Also, on Burlington Northern to turn the engine at Sesser, Illinois. This move to turn on wye. Enabled a properly facing train for the St. Louis return.

Although the outer case is labeled as Black Five Video. The actual show begins with a Green Frog title. A single DVD-R. Fullscreen 4×3 aspect ratio. Videotape by George Redmond. Live environmental audio. Mr. Redmond is a capable Videographer. This is not modern visual standards.

Push play. No map.  Narrated by Aaron Gonthier.

To the Trains… 👉

Norfolk Southern’s steam program ran these excursions with the Frisco 1522. The locomotive slowly enters St. Louis to the NS yard. The following day. The 1522 departs the Norfolk Southern yard.

Merchants Bridge

It crosses The Merchants Bridge over the Mississippi River. Below, a BN freight travels underneath. Yes, the BN power scene is included. Several different freights are encountered on the way out of town.

Belleville

Sweeps around a curve at Belleville.

The train does a single runby for the day.

Centralia

The train passes through Centralia. Only a single pass in both directions. Rather disappointing given the show title.

The Special backs down the BN wye to get proper orientation for the St. Louis return. Nice close-ups of the running gear.

Centralia

It is raining. The 1522 is stopping to get serviced. Here, on it’s way back to St. Louis.

Pacing outside of Centralia.

New Baden

Steaming through New Bayden near I-64.

Merchant Bridge

The rain has finally ended. The 1522 returns on the Merchants Bridge.

The 1522 Steamin to Centralia

The Frisco 1522 is not found in abundance, as far as train videos. While not a bad program, it is mediocre regarding the visuals. The soundtrack is fine. Good narrative by Aaron Gonthier. The frequent rain in the second half lowers the value.

The old video resolution and rain lands this in the historical programs to watch. The appeal is mainly towards hardcore fans.

A musician for many years. Guitar is my main instrument. Enjoy bass playing .Rock and Blues styles. However, Lead Vocals have been a Huge surprise!
The crowd loves my singing. I sound like; Joe Cocker, Greg Allman, with a bluesy tone. Nobody was more shocked than me. A late bloomer.

I love to have some laughs. People think that I am hilarious, and I remain clueless as to why... :)

I hope that everyone enjoys the material.
