The hotspot in Deshler,Ohio. Two mainlines cross here. CSX owns both. The Chicago East-West mainline and a Toledo- Cincinnati North-South main are both former Baltimore and Ohio. A pair of old structures mark the spot. Filmed over a four year period. Witness over 120 trains in this set.

The introduction contains historical images and information about Deshler Crossing. Both of the old structures are long out of service. Still, they add that old railroad flavor that has mostly disappeared across America.
To the Trains…
Disc One: 2006-2007 94 minutes
This 1st disc is packed with a fine assortment of locomotives. CSX in a variety of models and liveries. Foreign power like, BNSF, UP and plenty of leased engines such as FURX and more. The camera placements are at various spots. There are creative views which have not been seen in other Deshler films.

The show starts on April 28, 2006. Here is some action on the Chicago mainline. CSX symbol Q388 is Eastbound at 11:30am. CSX engines 8029 SD40 -2 (Built as L&N 8029) and 8426 SD40-2 (Built as C&O SD40 7475).

Two AC6000CW units lead this Intermodal on Eastbound Q110. Routed from Chicago to Little Ferry, NJ at 12:10pm. The hottest train on the ex: B&O Chicago main.

BNSF Dash 8-40CW and Dash 9-44CW on a Westbound Coke Express K381. Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to Gary, Indiana.

CSX 4452 (GP40-2) is a repainted Conrail leading Q381 on a Westbound freight. This train is routed from Selkirk, NY to BNSF Chicago. Time is 6:45 pm. Trailing units is this lash-up are: a CSX 8115 SD40-2 (ex. L&N), BNSF SD40-2 6869 ( renumbered Santa Fe) & new BNSF 5953 (ES44AC).

September 4, 2006. Northbound from the Toledo sub is changing to Eastbound on the Chicago line. CSX 8662 (Dash 8-40CW) and BNSF 5091 (Dash 9-44CW) are creeping along the steam era water retention pond with a freight.

May 5, 2007. Conrail paint on CSX renumbered 7493 which is turned on the wye to lead a double stack because of defective horn on CSX 7321.
Disc Two: 2008-2009 92 minutes

February 2, 2008. CSX 514 leads a Northbound as seen from across the frozen pond.

February 7, 2008. Here comes Q507 is Southbound. Two AC4400CW engines 305/555.

April 2, 2008. Grilling chicken and watching trains roll past on a Spring day at Crossroads Park. A Railfan favorite!

A former Conrail 7493 (Dash 8-40C) with CSX 4783 (SD70MAC) has turned from Eastbound to Southbound on the Toledo Line now. This is W081. Herzog ballast empties.
Deshler Mainline Crossroads
The hotspot at Deshler, Ohio is fairly common on train videos. Usually, the former B&O in front of the old Interlocking Tower and the depot are the scenes. However, Greg Scholl utilized assorted viewpoints to document the action on a variety of dates from 2006 to 2009.
A finely tuned soundtrack and detailed on-screen train facts. Narrator John Hingsbergen delivers a solid performance. He doesn’t step on the locomotive sounds.
A bonus is the extended three hours of running time. Double disc set at no extra charge.
This is a top tier Deshler hotspot program. CSX fans should find plenty of enjoyment on this fine release.
