Amtrak fans should definitely check Part 2. It is loaded with passenger trains. Both external and onboard scenes. Due to that focus, this shall be reviewed as Green Frog has issued this as a two-parter. It covers Raton Pass, New Mexico to Trinidad, Colorado.

To the Trains… 👉

Starts at Belen, New Mexico. Santa Fe 925 (C40-8W) still wears the original livery as it leads this BNSF Intermodal out of the yard. Belen has the old Santa Fe headquarters, yard and a former Harvey House. Those structures are trackside to the yard. visible to the right. This train passes the old HQ and former Harvey House.

Take an extended cab ride on this locomotive on a 36 mile roundtrip from Lamy to Santa Fe, NM. 35. Arrives at Santa Fe Depot to pickup the passenger consist.

An Eastbound Grain Train works hard on an upgrade through Apache Canyon.

Elevation over 7400 feet. BNSF 5444 sounding the horn at the depot while leading the three unit lash-up pulling a Grain Train.

Westbound BNSF 711 (C44-W) splits the still operating semaphores with mixed freight at San Ysidro, New Mexico.

BNSF 711 leads as this freight slows for a crew change at Las Vegas. The old Castaneda Hotel is seen in the background. This move has mid-train helpers.

The Amtrak Southwest Chief eases into a stop at Raton, New Mexico and is on time.

At Raton is a crew change point for this Eastbound mixed freight led by 4507 It needs helpers and will then travel over Raton Pass.

BNSF Tracks of the Old Santa Fe Vol. 4
Here is an extended length volume four over two parts in this Green Frog BNSF series. Volume 4 is beautifully filmed and has great scenery to match.
Santa Fe fans should appreciate some of the old structures and semaphores. Even though it is now BNSF. The route still feels like Santa Fe.
