Delaware and Hudson Volume 7. Here is the 2nd of a 3 part series on the Penn Division. March to June 1980. Simpson, Ararat Mountain to Ninevah. Lanesboro.
A single DVD-R. Excellent film restoration. Improved cinematography compared to the previous volume. Live environmental audio. Solid foundation elements.
Main Chapter Numbered Menu. No maps. No extras. Narrated by Mike Bednar. Too bad there isn’t an off option on him.
To the Trains…

D&H 7606 and 2312 at Stevens Point in March, 1980.

A different power set shows up at Lanesboro. 2314 leads to relieve 7609.

Symbol OH-2 is behind D&H GP39-2 7610. Here, it meets a helper set. D&H GP39-2 7609 leads the assistance pair in this scene at Lanesboro. Again, he doesn’t decode the train symbols. Put some effort into this.

Former Reading 7410 on a two unit helper set stops on Ararat to call-in.

Norfolk and Western is under slow orders. NW 6179 leads a GP30 and GE 8074 with piggybacks. The NW locomotives and cabooses were regular guests on D&H around this time period.

A nice shot of D&H SB4 on Starrucca Trestle.

Mike says, “Enough to make you puke”. Give me a break on the negativity. I am here to see trains. Yes, it is a slow order sign. Relax and stick to the railroad information.

Sealand trains 1 and 2 pass on Ararat. D&H U23B 2310 is facing the camera. Check the Norfolk and Western caboose.
Delaware and Hudson Volume 7
David Deyo with fine cinematography. The excellent film restoration is a winning ticket for the visuals. Trackside audio sounds fine.
Former railroader Mike Bednar. Checks in here with a fairly cranky old man narrative. Compared to the competition, his schtick becomes very tiresome. Same complaints over and over. Give it a rest. Who needs it?
Overall, it is a good-looking show with a too often downbeat narrative that drags the rating lower. Really needs a map or two. The Railfanning is where it is at. Not recycled personal opinions and mostly worn out humor. Diminishes the rerun value!
