Take a tour over several years in part of Ohio and Kentucky. There is CSX around Cincinnati, Ohio. Norfolk Southern in Ludlow, Kentucky. Southern plus Norfolk and Western power are still visible, as the Norfolk Southern merger isn’t old. TTI at Paris, KY. Some cameo steam like N&W 611 in 1990. N&W 1218 in 1987. Nice assortment.
A single DVD-R. Fullscreen 4×3 aspect ratio. Live environmental audio.
Main Chapter Menu. A chapter advance function. On-screen graphics. There are plenty of map references. A generous preview section. Narrated by John Hingsbergen.
To the Trains… 👉

CSX 116/ 117 F units hauling Train R211Road Railer through Paris, Kentucky in April, 1988.

TransKentucky Transportation Incorporated aka TTI, a local coal hauler.

A trio of Seaboard System B36-7 engines haul a Piggyback. Southbound Train R141 clears the tunnel at Latonia.

The clerk at Erlanger, Kentucky climbs aboard the slow-moving Norfolk Southern GP38-2 5224 to hand off the orders. Meanwhile, the local behind a stopped 5204, which is held for clearance.

South of Decoursey Yard are Grant’s Bend Tunnels. Seaboard System SD50 8603 fronts this CSX southbound move. Good traffic at these twin bores. Plenty of Seaboard System paint is seen here.

Three Grand Trunk units lead at MD cabin. Cincinnati is in the background. Circa 1988. Thought to be a Detroit bound coal train. The GTW was commonly found in the area.

A rare ex: Southern diesel leads as NS GP49 4604, Southern B30-7A 3506, and NS GP50 7055. They haul this Intermodal on Erlanger Hill.

We are back on CSX at Latonia to see R141. CSX U36B 5717, SS 5914, SS 5744 and Chessie as CSXT 5572 in this solid GE lashup. A Piggyback Train.

Two Norfolk Southern switchers 2378/ 2374 with a faded Southern caboose. This was working from Gest Yard with double-stacks.

An interesting trio. Seaboard Coast Line 6353, Chessie System 6222, and CSX 2171 in Operation Redblock paint. These three engines move across the bridge, pulling auto racks.

A pair of Chessie System GP40-2 and a trailing Seaboard System GP40-2 with R141 at Cincinnati in 1988.
Cincy Diesels
There are zero wide cab diesels in this entire show. No graffiti to speak of, either. Locomotive identification via graphics. Some bits of steam and the occasional caboose. This sounds great to me!
The picture looks excellent. Soundtrack is balanced. Narration is good. Train sounds are dominant. Pro shot videography by Greg Scholl. Plenty of map references.
A worthwhile addition for CSX and Norfolk Southern fans.
