Another entry for the Into the 90’s series by Clear Block. This show features both former Chicago & Eastern Illinois/ Louisville & Nashville, from Rileysburg to Evansville, Indiana. Also, ex: Monon routes. Both are in Indiana. The C&EI Evansville line was sold to L & N back in 1969. Filmed over 3 years in the 1990s.
C&EI is seen from Rileysburg to Evansville. Monon from Dyer to Crawfordsville. Bedford to New Albany, as well. Street running in Lafayette and more.
A single DVD-R. No Chapter menu. Hidden Chapter advance. Maps on the introduction. Narrated by Todd Miller.
Full screen aspect. Video tapes source. Live environmental audio. Image quality is good for tapes. Colors are decent and slightly washed out overall. Soft picture on Hi- def screen. Audio is strong on train sounds. Voice over could be slightly louder in the mix.
This periods locomotive assortment is the highlight. The traffic is mainline focused. Newer third generation power is in play. Plenty of EMD GP40-2 units and GE types are operating. A variety of CSX paint schemes. Model Railroaders take note. Many freight car consists are included.
To the Trains…
A lash-up with a Seaboard Coast Line leading.
Near Terre Haute. Haley Tower is a Conrail crossing. Conrail 5570.
Spring Hill Tower is CSX crossing Soo Line. 2618 in the gray ghost CSX scheme on the point of a Hopper Train.
CSX 6638 and GP30 4235 blow for a start at a road crossing. A Grain extra.
Seaboard System 2633 with high cube boxcars. Princeton.
CSX lash-up with: SD40-2 8459, GP30 4219 and GE C30-7 7051 on a train. This Southbound is going to Howell Yard in Evansville. The Southern part of Chicago & Eastern Illinois trackage.
A four unit lash-up crosses on a miles long trestle over the Ohio River Flood Plain, which is south of Evansville.
Switches over to former Monon. This was the old Chicago to Louisville mainline. A 25 mile abandonment severed the through line. This Monon decorated Passenger train is operated by Indiana Transportation Museum in Nobelsville.
Kentucky and Indiana Jct. in New Albany. These Norfolk Southern tracks lead to the Ohio River Bridge. Opposing NS traffic.

Into the 90’s CSX’s Indiana Mainlines Volume 2
The two former railroad lines are split about 50/ 50 in this show. Coverage is on moving trains. If one prefers to see freight cars, this is the ticket.
Todd Miller was a very capable producer. Videography, script, and narrative are credited to Miller. It is an interesting release.
There are numerous foreign road locomotives, besides CSX legacy paint. Amtrak interjected throughout.
This is one of the better Into the 90’s shows.
