This program shows the trains on the D&H North End in 1991 at Saratoga Springs & vicinity, and then again
in 1994 when we covered the line from just northwest of Albany to Rouses point.
A two DVD-R set. Detailed Main Chapter Menu. On-screen subtitles. No maps. Narration.
Video sourced. Plenty of little tape flaws. Good colors. Soundtrack is live environmental audio. Official Railroad squawk box transmissions are heard sometimes. Narration is informative and limited.
Take note, the train consists are often seen in their entire length! Plus, it’s graffiti free railfanning. The occasional caboose rounds out the show.

The action jumps in at Saratoga Springs in 1991. CP Rail with a pair of RS-23 units switching. Some through freights on the mainline.
1994

Train 556 at Fort Ticonderoga Station with a leased engine in 1994. This one is chased.

Coming out of a curve. SD40 with 555 is rolling along Lake Champlain at Fort Ticonderoga.

C424 215 and Gp9u with 554 at Putnam Station. A double-stack.

Fort Ann has Train 556 behind 5509 engine with the MLW 4606.

Delaware and Hudson pair of 7303 and 7304 were former Lehigh Valley engines. These units are switching at Fort Edward Station.

It is July 1994 at Saratoga Springs yard. CP Rail RS18u numbers 1810 and 1830. These 2 are drilling cars. The 1829 is sitting with a Guilford D&H engine. Extended visit here.

Soo Line 769 leads an unusual Acid Train. The # 700 runs Montreal to Baltimore.

Plattsburgh to Saratoga Springs from the rear of an Amtrak train. Long ride and well filmed.

Canadian Pacific’s D&H North End
At 3 hours, this release is action packed! Full length trains are often shown. A relaxed narrative which highlights the live audio. The camera crew certainly covers many locations. Some map references would have been a big help.
Nearly every train is identified. Excellent cinematography.
Real time is about 2 hours of Railfanning. The third hour is the onboard Amtrak ride.
A nice value show. Great for CP Rail fans! Delaware and Hudson also has a selection of locomotives. Anyone who appreciates action and a plethora of freight cars should enjoy this long presentation.
