Vignettes of the Erie Lackawanna Volume 1

Producer: Todd Miller

Locations: Marion, OH area

Timeframe: 1960’s

Length: 1 hour

Source: Joe Slander

Erie Lackawanna filmed around Marion, Ohio. This release was shot in the 1960’s. Color film in 8mm. Unrestored condition, and badly in need of restoration. Too bad, as the equipment is interesting.

Todd Miller was a Producer in the earlier time of Train Videos. The films may have been in better shape at that time. This DVD-R, hurts my eyes for the majority. The preponderance of pink or yellow hued backgrounds, are a disaster.

Other items. Todd Miller has and performs an informative narrative. A rocking, musical background throughout. Zero train sounds. Several, discolored maps. No Chapter Menus. A Clear Block preview section follows, at the end.

Plenty of various F and E units in service.

Could be an old film or tape, was transferred to digital. No oversight to quality, when transferred. My best guess. Too bad.

New GP35 units.

There are several major Railroads that intersect at Marion, Ohio. It makes for an extremely busy location!

An Alco switcher works at the

Erie Lackawanna had one of it’s major Railyards in close proximity. Passenger trains appear, as well.

Lightning Stripes have been replaced by the Cigar Band scheme.

New York Central ran plenty of trains through here.

This is a rare GP39.

Chesapeake & Ohio had a crossing. GP39 is a rare bird.

Blue with the hamburger N&W logo.

Norfolk & Western was another major line.

Pennsylvania freight and a Chevrolet.

Behemoth, Pennsylvania Railroad was present.

Alco Centuries were effective on the EL.

Todd mentions, that this was the everyday. Little was filmed at the time. Indeed!

View of AC Tower on the left.

AC Tower is on the left. Signal bridge and some trackwork at Marion. Note the film quality.

Interesting Lashups, like this string of Alco RS-3 power. One of the better shots.

Some scenes have normal blue skies. Appreciate those scenes. Wish they were in greater percentage.

Specially equipped Caboose, for long backing moves.

There it is people. There is a supply of freight cars. A caboose on most every freight. Some brief train chases. All in mostly low quality.

Vignettes of the Erie Lackawanna Volume 1

Contains 1960s paint, and the equipment of the time. Clear Block seems to be, a hit or miss label. Your decision. Most of this can now be found in higher quality elsewhere.

The crowd loves my singing. I sound like; Joe Cocker, Greg Allman, with a bluesy tone. Nobody was more shocked than me. A late bloomer.

I love to have some laughs. People think that I am hilarious, and I remain clueless as to why... :)

I hope that everyone enjoys the material.
